Meaning of a Shadow
When I was little, playing with the shapes of my hands was fun. Pretending that my hands were different animals, a bird or a dog, was an innocent way of entertaining myself. There was no other meaning to it, nothing more than pure play. Life through the eyes of a child is simple.
There is something interesting, even enthralling, when we try to give meaning to everything. It is in humankind itself to try to see beyond the simple, to see the light and the dark, the good and the bad, whatever is around us.
Light and darkness, both complement each other, and both are inseparable.
One grows up, and playing with shadows is no longer enjoyable. You grow up and those shadows are still surrounding you, they are equally catching, but there is a whole new meaning to it, because life through the eyes of an adult is complex.
And moving forward, or backward, there is a shadow that follows you, it is your best friend, or your enemy, and even when you are alone it is a shadow that follows you, even in those lonely moments.
Because through the eyes of an adult, the light is always blocked by something dark; it is up to each of us to embrace that darkness, and to follow the path even if the darkness tries to consume you.
